College Essays The University of Minnesota welcomes free speech. A student applying for admission to the University, who has been suspended for participation in a protest, would not be required to report such activities. In the application for admission, we do provide students with space to share more information about themselves and their particular beliefs and the activities in which they have engaged and feel are important. You are a transfer applicant if you are a high school graduate who has registered or enrolled at a college, university, or any other school after graduating from high school. You are also a freshman if you have graduated from high school, but have NOT enrolled at a college, university, or any other school after high school. Be sure to see the requirements on the International Applicants page. If you have completed at least one semester as a degree candidate at another college or university, apply as a Transfer Applicant. And if you’ve already decided BU is your first choice among schools, apply as an Early Decision Applicant. Nearly all selective colleges and universities practice a holistic application review. We offer expert help in building a smart college strategy and creating college applications. If you are applying from high school or with equivalent high school requirements, you will apply as a First-Year Applicant. In order to be considered for on-campus housing, students are required to submit a Housing Agreement for the period requested and include a $50.00 (non-refundable) application fee. The housing application must include the University ID number issued by the Admissions Office in order for it to be processed. Please note that students must be admitted to the University before they can apply for housing. The requirements for Florida residency status are defined by Florida state statute Section 1009.21. Students should indicate the desire to be considered under Drew’s test optional admission program when completing your application. To learn more about Drew’s test policy, click here. Drew’s application deadline for those students applying under our Regular Decision program is February 1, with notification by March 6 and a deposit due date by the National Candidate’s Reply Date of May 1. Students are automatically considered for Drew University academic merit scholarships. Students who have decided that Drew is their number one choice of university should apply through the Early Decision program. You should only apply Early Decision to one school. Your first step is to submit an application for admission online. Test scores posted on official high school transcripts may also be accepted. In consideration of the priority admissions deadlines, applicants who submit test scores after February are not guaranteed admission and may have to defer their applications to a future term. We consider a variety of factors including the rigor of a student’s coursework, academic performance, extracurricular activities and achievements, essays, and demonstrated interest. We are careful not to emphasize any single academic metric, such as class rank, grade point average, or test scores. We take a holistic, team-based approach to reviewing applications with the goal of enrolling a diverse class of the most talented students from across the country and around the world. Generally, a person is considered a resident of Florida for the purpose of paying taxes, voting or other legal purposes after residing in the state for a designated length of time. However, state statute requires additional requirements for a student to be classified as a Florida resident for tuition purposes. Most importantly, living in or attending school in Florida will not, in itself, establish legal residence for tuition purposes. We’re looking for voracious lovers of life, diverse thinkers with an unquenchable curiosity about the world - students who will bring different life experiences and unique perspectives to our campus. Hamilton Education offers the H3 Program, preparing students for three exams â€" the SAT, ACT, and PSAT â€" in a single effort using a skills-based approach. Often, simply looking at the test or even a diagnostic test is not enough to determine which test a student will perform better on. In fact, we’ve had dozens of students who were initially against takingâ€"or studying forâ€"the ACT goes on to earn perfect scores on that test. Furthermore, students who know they prefer the ACT will still take the PSAT in the fall of their 11th-grade year, and this test could lead to significant financial aid for college. Many of the elements of an effective college admissions essay further that goal. Here’s my attempt to list the features that comprise a great college application essay. Some students do a great job sharing a personal story, but spend too much of their essay on those details. After that, requirements vary depending on whether you are a recent high school graduate, student transferring from another institution or returning adult. Counseling and Psychological Services provides counseling for students in times of stress, and encourages them to ask for help with their most immediate concerns.
